Old Laguna (Home Village) The presentation will tell the story of the establishment of the Laguna Colony of Albuquerque and the continued multi-generational participation of those Pueblo of Laguna members residing in the Albuquerque area. A panel made up of Laguna Colony members will also be present to share their individual and family experiences within the Colony and throughout the growth of the City of Albuquerque. Following the presentation and panel discussion, the session will be open for questions from the audience. Albuquerque Museum of Art and History-Old Town Becoming A State Different: New Mexico's March To Statehood Sunday September 11, 2011, 1:00 pm This illustrated talk includes photographs and documents of the period which illuminate the 62 year struggle from territory to statehood. The talk is by Jon Hunner, Director of the Public History program at New Mexico State University. This talk is part of “Celebrating the New Mexico Centennial" programming series. It is 1912 and what is happening in Albuquerque? Come to the museum’s Centennial program series to explore snapshots of Albuquerque life during the times. SUNDAY, OCT. 16, 2 P.M.

NM STATEHOOD CENTENNIAL EXHIBIT
The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History in Old Town opened two NM Statehood Centennial exhibits July 31. The exhibits are: Faces from our Past / Facing the Future—This exhibit features some 80 photographs of Albuquerque in the early 1900’s as the 1912 statehood was approaching. These photographs have never been seen before at the Museum. There are also 800 digital images. The second exhibit is Albuquerque Celebrates 2012. This exhibit tells the story of major events taking place in Albuquerque around the 1912 statehood. A continuing exhibit is Albuquerque’s New Town, covering Albuquerque history in the 1900’s.
